Currently MECCONTI offers four different product lines of lyophilized micro-organisms:
MicroSwabs : A MicroSwab consists of a lyophilized pellet of a single micro-organism strain inside a pen-like device. This pen-like device contains a sterile swab and rehydration fluid to facilitate the transfer of the micro-organisms directly to culture media. The pellet has no defined CFU assay but a minimum of 1000 CFU/pellet to ensure proper growth. Use MicroSwabs whenever a defined assay value is not needed. The MicroSwabs are up to 4 passages removed from reference strain.
MicroSwabPlus : The MicroSwabPlus also consists of a lyophilized pellet of a single micro-organism strain inside a pen-like device. This pen-like device contains a sterile swab and rehydration fluid to facilitate the transfer of the micro-organisms directly to culture media. The pellet has no defined CFU assay but a minimum of 1000 CFU/ pellet to ensure proper growth. Whereas MicroSwabs are up to 4 passages removed from reference strain the MicroSwabPlus are only 2 passages removed from reference strain.
MicroPelletsRT : A MicroPelletRT consists of a lyophilized pellet of a single micro-organism strain with a defined mean assay value inside a plastic vial and one separate vial with 1 ml rehydration fluid. Adding the reconstitution fluid to the pellet vial it forms a suspension with a defined assay value of 10-100 CFU/0.1 ml as mandated by USP and Ph.Eur. for growth promotion tests.
MicroPelletRT10 : is a bigger format of MicroPelletRT and is intended for customers who perform a lot of testing. A MicroPelletRT10 consists of a lyophilized pellet of a single micro-organism strain with a defined mean assay value inside a plastic vial and one separate vial with 10 ml rehydration fluid. Adding pellet to the reconstitution fluid vial it forms a suspension with a defined assay value of 10-100 CFU/0.1 ml as mandated by USP and Ph.Eur. for growth promotion tests.
MicroPelletsRTPlus : Microorganisms can be used to perform various essential quality control functions including microbial detection and enumeration, equipment calibration, method validation, bioburden determination, antibacterial effectiveness and lethality testing. MicroPelletRTPlus is available in concentrations ranging from 102 to 108 CFU per pellet. Rehydration fluid for this product line is available in sets of 2 vials of 1 ml each as a separate product.
The ATCC Licensed Derivative® program is an initiative aimed at improving the quality of microbiology products and protecting consumers impacted by them. The ATCC Licensed Derivative® program assures QC microbiologists that commercial products bearing the ATCC Licensed Derivative® emblem contain microorganisms with confirmed identity, viability and purity
As a public science organization, ATCC takes very seriously its responsibility to try to ensure the safety and quality of the materials it provides. In joining ATCC’s effort and passing ATCC‘s rigorous evaluation of MECCONTI‘s quality control process, MECCONTI‘s customers can be assured that our family of microorganisms is derived directly from ATCC cultures and is controlled to maintain its identity, purity and viability in products used in the industrial, clinical or environmental setting.
To assure proper handling along the chain of distribution MECCONTI‘s distributors of its ATCC Licensed Derivative®products have to meet certain standards and have to subscribe to the provisions of the ATCC Licensed Derivative®program. To ensure proper handling and use of these products the end user has to enter into a End User Agreement which describes each parties obligations. MECCONTI and its distributors cannot sell any products to end users who have not signed the End User Agreement.
